Watchour, the Conceptstore

A concept store located in Luxembourg, formerly in Strassen, now in Luxembourg City, at 26 rue du Curé, 1368 Luxembourg.

I have always been told that when we want to make an acquisition, we buy the seller, more than a product. Although this is a very philosophical phrase, I think that introducing yourself will allow you to have a first approach and to confirm yourself in this idea...

Dear timepiece lovers

The second-hand watch market has evolved enormously over the last 15 years with, to date, hundreds of active dealers in Europe alone. The Internet, easy international shipping and the common currency of the Euro have transformed this local market into a global one.

In the multitude of offers, it is sometimes difficult to find one’s way around, even for experienced people.

It seems obvious to me that before considering buying a new watch or selling one, the most important thing is to know who you are dealing with.

For those who do not know me, some introductions are in order.

Having left the Phocaean city (Marseille) in order to pursue higher studies in marketing and management, lulled since my childhood by watches, I was able, thanks to a pioneer and giant of the second-hand watch, to discover the market which surrounds the world of new and second-hand watches. Thanks to these 4 years of experience, both in selling and buying, I have been able to meet a large number of players in this market and this allows me, today, to launch myself and welcome you to my site.

Since my launch, I take advantage of this freedom to travel the globe in search of exceptional pieces, new and used, of all price ranges and all known or less known brands, but which all have two points in common: an irreproachable state and a reasonable and reasonable price.

In all the cases where it is impossible for me to move, we have transporters who make the shuttles each week in order to recover, or deliver watches.

Where am I?

Everywhere... Or at least everywhere where there are watches!

My headquarters were located in Strassen (Luxembourg) on the main road to Arlon. Easily accessible and with parking spaces available, I am already delighted to be able to receive you in my office.
However, I have changed my mind. We have decided to take the idea of the office a step further, and have exported this philosophy, the very heart of this office, to a concept store, located in Luxembourg City, 26 rue du Curé, where we are available all week to receive you.

I also usually travel once a week to Brussels and Paris, where I can meet you by appointment to discuss your future purchases, sales or watch exchanges and to give you my professional and independent opinion.

So let me tell you how the idea came about...

Why an office?

After 4 years spent in different traditional shops in Luxembourg and Paris, I decided to opt for a more intimate, free and competitive concept.

To satisfy these three points, I decided to launch the WatcHour concept!

- More intimate: The advantage is to be able to welcome you in a more suitable, more discreet and more secure setting. This allows us to focus on an optimal, personalised service and to respond more individually to your expectations. In addition, watches are less handled due to this restricted flow, and less subject to some form of deterioration.

- More freedom: No more time slots. We are in a market where reactivity is the order of the day. And having to stick to a time slot is very often not appropriate. So I preferred to focus on an office so that I could be mobile and available, while still being on the street. Whether at your place of work, while travelling or even at special times (Sunday, early morning or late evening), I will be happy to welcome you by appointment at the place and time that suits you best. This flexibility will allow both you and me to take the time to enjoy an exchange in optimal conditions. Buying a new watch or selling one or both at the same time is supposed to be an enjoyable experience and not an obligation in the rush.

- More competitive: The win-win situation. The absence of a downtown boutique, often linked to limited space, "administration" type hours, lack of privacy and high inherent costs, allows me to complete the transaction (buy-sell-trade) at a more competitive price, in a more discreet and pleasant setting, and all at your best convenience.

Although the answer seems obvious, giving one that doesn’t contradict the initial idea of the office might be complicated to justify.

WatcHour, started with a blank page, a big story split into a multitude of ideas that must progress progressively, step by step. So, with the means at hand, and given my affection for this German-style business model, I said to myself “I’m opening an office! “. For the three reasons mentioned above, and also to make every watch lover (re)feel something that is lost nowadays: the provision of service. The heart of WatcHour was and still is: to provide the best to a watch lover, or any epicurean at heart. So the idea of the office came at the right time: a cosy setting, an office run like a flat, with a lounge atmosphere, music, something to share a drink together under this common horological affection. BUT. Because there is always a but. It’s an idea that also comes with a downside. The stock is limited because of its low restocking capacity, many customers have trouble finding the office entrance, etc. My excessive freedom means that I miss out on potential appointments or visits that have not been agreed. In short, several constraints. So to keep myself busy on Saturdays, I submitted the idea of providing my watchmaking services to pop-up stores in Luxembourg City, in order to “try” the return to the boutique…

… And that’s how we came to open a shop, on Rue du Curé, a stone’s throw from the Place d’Armes in Luxembourg City. This shop is motivated by a simple desire:

The soul of the office, the shop in addition: The shop takes the general idea of the office: sofa, bar, stools, … in order to keep a lounge atmosphere, and forget about this “Buy and go” side. Here, the desire to acquire a product must go hand in hand with an experience. We want to take the time to provide that experience, and make you feel comfortable. In addition, we have a private lounge, so that you can take the time to talk in privacy.
We always have the freedom to move around: Out of hours, by appointment, after/before hours. Finishing late? No problem. On a Monday? By appointment.
Competition 2.0: As the shop is combined with a watchmaking workshop, following the same logic and professional will, we share most of the costs in order to provide an optimal location, in the city centre, and to keep our commitments in terms of quality-price ratio.

Our commitments

What you see is what you buy.

Website: All watches visible on the WatcHour website are available and in stock as soon as they are published. They are photographed by me and are not retouched. We try to be as transparent and relevant as possible about the content of the description, and I am available for any missing or additional information.

Social networks: We are active on Instagram (@watchourluxembourg), Facebook (Watchourluxembourg) and Twitter (watchourL). All published watch photos are available and for sale, unless otherwise stated. Do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested.

Before being made available, all products are strictly controlled and sent to our watchmakers to ensure their functionality and meet optimal standards of use.

If you are looking for a specific watch, do not hesitate to contact us. Our mobility as well as our contacts at disposal often allow us to find the best pieces at attractive prices and in phase with the current market.

I am also available for any appointment, mainly in Luxembourg but also in Paris, Brussels, …

I make it a point of honour to satisfy you. In order to ensure that you and your timepiece do not leave each other, we undertake to repair any purchase that has a defect or does not correspond to your order.

In addition, in accordance with European law, if you have purchased a product online, you have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason, and without having to give any reason. (See Terms and Conditions)

WatcHour will deliver your new purchase within 48 hours of receiving your payment and validating it, unless otherwise specified. For example, we avoid shipping your package at the end of the week so that it does not remain in the premises of an intermediary and maximize the security of your future package and make this e-experience free of constraints.

Delivery can be made in different ways, either by hand, in Luxembourg, Paris or Brussels, or by express delivery in a secure package, insured and accompanied by a tracking number.

All our watches are guaranteed for 1 year from the date of purchase. We also offer a warranty extension (of one year) if you wish. The authenticity is of course guaranteed.

The guarantee covers both parts and labour, in the context of “good housekeeping”. (See GTC).

In addition, WatcHour is formally committed to ensuring the authenticity of its collection. Our watchmakers are also present to prevent any counterfeiting. All our watches are also checked and guaranteed not stolen. We work with the world’s largest database of stolen watches to avoid participating in this scourge.

I am of course at your disposal for any contact, information, or any particular request and I would be happy to find you the watch that best suits you.

The future of WatcHour?

In a perspective of perpetual improvement, we are looking for ideas and collaborations here and there in order to be a key player in Luxembourg and, hopefully, in Europe. Post pandemic, we will resume events with our clients, exhibitions across Europe, and continue to try to renew!

2021 will have been a very important year as it represents the realisation of several related projects, but ultimately linked together.

The first major step forward, although completed, was the shop. Changing the "concept" while keeping its philosophy was a challenge. Moving an office to a shop in the city centre is not an easy task. Indeed, keeping an "intimate" philosophy and trying to adapt it to a "mass" structure are two opposing logics.

Then there are some constraints. The shop allows a better flow, a better volume of watches, making the site "obsolete", or in any case easily overwhelmed by the flow of movement. This is why we have, in 2021, completely redesigned the site.

The site has several interests. The first is to show the available stock. To have more tools, filters to offer you a better web navigation.

Secondly, to beautify the site, but this is a matter of taste...

Thirdly, to add "practical" tools, namely a listing of serial numbers for brands with this listing. A watchmaking lexicon that we are completing step by step.

Fourthly, the multilingual translation. Please note that we are the only watchmaking site to offer a partial translation into Luxembourgish, and one of the few sites in Luxembourg to offer a translation into "luxo"!

Finally, our biggest project, currently underway, is to incorporate a watchmaker's workbench into the heart of the shop. The presence of a watchmaker gives us a faster turnaround time to maintain a watch, have it authenticated, and complete appraisal files for your insurance companies.

We try to make the shop evolve constantly with new features, sometimes anecdotal, but which add small "options" to make our work easier and the navigation more pleasant.

We are always open to suggestions and proposals!
